DistributionRugathodes sexpunctatus is of North American origin and was first recorded in the UK in Glasgow in 2012. Since then it has spread in southern Scotland as far North as Aberdeenshire and is currently recorded from 9 hectads. Britain is the only country in Europe from which it is known at present.
Habitat and ecology
In Scotland it has been recorded from woodlands, gardens, cemeteries and a public park. It has been collected on the foliage of evergreen shrubs and trees including ivy, holly, juniper, pine, yew and cypress. In North America it is normally found on coniferous trees.
